WDP Medical’s founder and principal trainer is William David ‘Dave’ Powell. Dave qualified as a nurse in 1994. Initially, he worked in critical care and gained a degree in critical care nursing, before moving into cardiac nursing.
Dave’s career as a nurse and medic has seen him travel all over the world. He has led teams of civilian and military medical personnel providing emergency medical treatment in conflict areas, organised and assisted in emergency repatriation, and worked as an off-shore medic, a remote area medic, and a ship’s medic.
Dave has led teams of staff setting up and subsequently providing primary healthcare in a number of different countries, and used his experience in India to volunteer and help set up clinics in areas of need. He is also experienced in the care of tropical diseases. His expansive career not only means he is qualified to teach a wide variety of healthcare topics, but it also gives him a real-life working knowledge and experience of these topics.
This knowledge and experience makes Dave an enthusiastic trainer. He prides himself on ensuring all candidates feel involved and that all their needs are catered for. The teaching sessions are interesting, informative, and enjoyable for all.
